DB Schmitt 'Sekt Brut Nature' Sparkling 2020

This elegant sparkling wine has a fantastic minerality and complexity. Notes of peach, cream, lime, grapefruit and nutmeg on the palate. A great alternative to Champagne.

VINEYARDS:
100% Riesling from the Goldberg Vineyard in Nieder-Flörsheim.
Sites with the name ‘gold’ refers to the esteem in which the site
is held. This particular site is grown on limestone, which brings
a cool, salty minerality to the wines.

VINTAGE:
“Overall, the weather in 2020 followed a similar pattern to the
last two vintages. Winter was warm and quite dry in some growing
regions, though this was not uniform; in the Nahe and Rheingau,
for example, there was a healthy amount of winter precipitation
while just over the Hunsrück, the Mosel remained quite dry. Spring
was warmer than average, which led to an early budbreak and the
threat of frost and in May, limited damage in some vineyards.”

TECH NOTES:
100 % Riesling from the Goldberg vineyard in Flörsheim-Dalsheim.
The grapes are pressed directly after harvesting by hand. 10
months of fermentation and maturation in big oak barrels. The
resulting wine is then bottled with minimal additions where it
spends a further two years maturing before its release. Zero
